A New Era of Entry: What to Know About Entering the Disneyland Resort
For so many, stepping through the gates of Disneyland Park for the first time is a magical rite of passage—where yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy come together in an unforgettable moment.
Once inside, the adventure is entirely up to you—whether you're hopping on a classic like the Haunted Mansion, grabbing a must-have treat, or snapping a photo in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Whether you're a SoCal local, visiting from out of town, or staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, we know you’re eager to get into the parks as smoothly and quickly as possible.
With newly upgraded entry gates now at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, here’s everything you need to know to make your arrival seamless.
Where Are the Entry Gates Located?
The main entrances to both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are located in the Esplanade, the open space between the two parks. While longtime visitors will recognize the traditional turnstiles, they’ll now see modernized, more accessible entry gates.
Pro Tip: Guests with valid admission and park reservations can also enter the parks from three alternate locations:
-
Disneyland Monorail Station (Downtown Disney District)
Glide straight into Tomorrowland if you’re entering Disneyland Park. -
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
Guests of this hotel can access Disney California Adventure near Grizzly Peak. -
Pixar Place Hotel Entrance
From 30 minutes before park opening until 12 p.m. PST, hotel guests can use this entrance near Goofy’s Sky School.
How Do the New Entry Gates Work?
The updated gates are ADA-compliant and easy to use for guests with ECVs, wheelchairs, and strollers.
Here’s how to enter:
Step 1: Scan each guest’s ticket using the screen at the gate.
Step 2: Tap the camera icon on the screen to take a photo (required for ticket validation). The built-in camera automatically adjusts for different heights—even kids!
Step 3: Once the photo is captured, the gate will open automatically, allowing your party to walk in together.

What About Re-Entry?
Planning to return for the evening shows like Paint the Night or World of Color – Happiness!? As long as you have a valid ticket and theme park reservation for the same day, just scan your admission and head back in!
What’s New About This Entry Experience?
This updated system adds more gates, better accessibility, and a quicker, smoother arrival process.
-
A Cast Member is always nearby to assist with scanning, photos, or questions.

MagicBand+ users can simply tap their band for hands-free entry.
-
Each gate features animated character clips that welcome and say goodbye—Mickey Mouse at Disneyland Park, and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit at Disney California Adventure.
Bringing Little Ones?
Children under age 3 do not need a ticket or reservation. Kids age 3 and up will follow the same photo and scan process—with help from an adult, of course!
Once inside, families can enjoy kid-friendly fun like:
-
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Mickey’s Toontown
-
Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! (debuting May 16)
-
Pixar Pals Playtime Party at Fantasyland Theatre (returning May 23)

Can I Use the Disneyland App or MagicBand+ to Enter?
Absolutely! After purchasing your ticket and making a reservation, just:
-
Open the Disneyland app.
-
Tap the menu (☰ in the bottom right).
-
Select My Tickets & Passes and tap Link Tickets & Passes to add yours.
Once linked, you can scan from the app or tap in with your MagicBand+ at any entry gate.
